  3.      Super X VGA Windows 3.1 Video Driver Installation Instructions
  4.  
  5. This driver disk is designed to allow you to select or change the
  6. video driver for Windows 3.1 using Windows Setup. Setup can be
  7. executed from within Windows, or from DOS. Note that these driver
  8. files are in Microsoft compressed format and can only be accessed and
  9. executed by installing through Windows Setup. Simply copying the files
  10. into your \Windows\System subdirectory WILL NOT work and may corrupt
  11. your Windows installation. Installing the drivers correctly is,
  12. however, a simple process. It is accomplished by following these
  13. instructions:

  16. You may optionally install the drivers from a hard disk subdirectory. See 
  17. the instructions for this after the floppy disk instructions.

  20. Installation from floppy disk
  21.  
  22. 1) Insert your Driver Disk in the appropriate floppy drive.
  23.  
  24. 2) From your Windows directory, type SETUP and select DISPLAY to
  25. change the video driver. Or, with Windows running, select Setup from
  26. the Program Manager Main group. Refer to your Microsoft Windows User's
  27. Guide for assistance in running Setup from inside Windows.

  29. 3) Select "Other disk..." to direct the program to the floppy disk
  30. holding the new drivers. Note that after the drivers are installed,
  31. you will not have to select "Other disk..." again should you decide to
  32. change resolutions. Look for the Super X VGA drivers in the Display
  33. selection menu to select the display resolution you want.

  35. 4) When asked where the drivers will be found, state the following:

  37.         A:\
  38.  
  39. 6) A standard Windows selection menu will appear with additional video
  40. drivers from which to select.

  42. 7) Proceed normally through the remainder of the process. Check
  43. Microsoft Windows installation procedures if necessary.

  47. Installation from Hard Disk
  48.  
  49. 1) Having the drivers loaded on the hard disk will make it easier and
  50. faster to change resolutions in the future. Make a subdirectory to
  51. hold the driver files.
  52.  
  53. example: C:>md \SXVGA
  54.  
  55.         and switch to that subdirectory (C:>cd \SXVGA)
  56.  
  57. 2) Insert the drivers disk into the appropriate drive and type the
  58. following command:
  59.  
  60.         COPY A:\*.*
  61.  
  62. 3) From your Windows directory, type SETUP and select DISPLAY  to
  63. change the video driver. Or, with Windows running, select Setup from
  64. the Program Manager Main group. Refer to your Microsoft Windows User's
  65. Guide for assistance in running Setup from inside Windows.

  67. 4) Select "Other disk..." to direct the program to the subdirectory
  68. holding the new drivers. Note that once the drivers are installed, you
  69. should not have to select "Other" again should you decide to change
  70. resolutions. Look for the Super X VGA drivers in the Display
  71. selection menu to select the display resolution you want.

  73. 5) When asked where the drivers will be found, state the following
  74. (deleting what the program has displayed in the input window):

  78.         e.g.: C:>\SXVGA
  79.  
  80. 6) A standard Windows selection menu will appear with additional video
  81. drivers from which to select.

  83. 7) Proceed normally through the remainder of the process. Check
  84. Microsoft Windows installation procedures if necessary.
